Seasonal Drinking

Please note that the season for cloying, pumpkin-flavored beverages has now officially ended. The season for cloying, peppermint-and-chocolate-flavored beverages has begun.

  1. My taste runs more towards...medicinal. Hot Whiskey from Rosie Schaap for example.
1 tspn. light brown sugar (or honey if you like)
2 oz. whiskey (she calls for Paddy)
3 oz. water, just off the boil
1 lemon wedge studded with three cloves.

Don't forget the heatproof glass, otherwise pretty much as you would guess. jbw

    1. Nice idea—I also prefer the more medicinal beverages, as long as we're using "medicinal" as a synonym for "alcoholic." Mainly, I just have a visceral aversion to the gloppy stuff that Starbucks keeps trying to foist on us during the winter months.

  2. So powerful is the "red cup" campaign that I pulled in to a Starbucks and ordered a gingerbread latte just to _try_ to like it. Too sweet, too thick. And, I submit that the nutmeg sprinkle is not ground finely enough.

Then again, I hate Disney World, too, and not just for the texture of the garnishes.

I do recommend frothing some egg nog for your morning coffee.

Thank you for giving me garnish texture as a metric for my hatred. Many rants will ensue from this.
